According to the qualification characteristics, the graduate of VFU, who completed his bachelor's degree with a professional qualification "engineer-architect", acquires training that enables him to perform the following activities in the field of architecture and construction:
- To develop or participate in the development of investment projects in accordance with the given technical capacity;
- To provide technical guidance in the implementation of investment projects;
to carry out management; - To carry out research activities;
- To conduct teaching activities.
to carry out administrative and service activities related to the organization of the territories.
The specialty „Строителство и архитектура на сгради и съоръжения" provides the following professional knowledge about:
Mastering broad-based theoretical knowledge and practical skills to enable the realization of graduates in a wide range of activities in the field of architecture and construction;
Acquisition of knowledge and skills for the specialty "Construction and Architecture of Buildings and Facilities";
Receiving training, ensuring adaptability and mobility in various areas of architectural and construction activities;
Continuation of education in higher educational levels.
Candidate students can apply:
- Candidates, who are citizens of countries outside European union and European economic area may apply if the minimum average grade in mathematics or physics from the diploma for completed secondary education is not lower than 62 percent of the maximum grade value according to the assessment system in the country where the secondary education was acquired.
- Кандидатите за специалности “Архитектура” и “Строителство на сгради и съоръжения” трябва да положат онлайн изпит по рисуване. Специализиран онлайн курс по рисуване може да бъде организиран безплатно от ВСУ “Любен Каравелов” ако е необходим.
Each applicant may have to submit the following documents:
- Standard Application form.
- Copy of the document for completed secondary education and of the appendix with the grades.
- A document issued by a competent authority certifying the applicant right to continue his / her education in the higher schools of the country in which his / her secondary education is acquired.
- Language proficiency document:
For the candidates who will study in Bulgarian and will not pass language and specialized training - a document for proficiency in Bulgarian language, issued by a higher school in the Republic of Bulgaria.
For candidates who will study in English and will not pass the language and specialized training - a recognized certificate (FCE, SAE, TOEFL, etc.) or high school diploma with enhanced teaching of English. - Medical certificate issued within one month before the date of the application and authenticated by relevant medical authority in the country from which the person is applying.
- A copy of the page from the international passport with the name of the candidate in Latin, his/hers date and place of birth.
- Документ за платен депозит към ВСУ “Любен Каравелов” в размер на 50 лв. Депозита ще бъе приспаднат от таксата за записване на кандиатстващия.Документите по точка 2.3 и 5 трябва да бъдат преведени на български език и с приведени във вид съобразоно изисквания на законодателството на Република България.
Документите могат да бъдат подадени лично във ВСУ “Л. Каравелов”

The Lyuben Karavelov Higher School of Civil Engineering - Sofia is the legal successor of the specialized military engineering civil engineering school, established in 1938 by a Decree of NV Tsar Boris III.
Higher School of Civil Engineering “L. Karavelov ”is a state specialized higher school.
Its public mission is:
- to train Bulgarian and foreign citizens for acquiring higher education in the professional field "Architecture, Construction and Geodesy";
- to maintain a European dimension in student learning;
